Hybrid Use of Inner-City Sites

18th April 2023, 6 pm for 6.30 pm start

AluK Design Studio, 5-11 Worship Street, London, EC2A 2BH

The hybrid use of inner-city sites is becoming increasingly important in the pursuit of long-term sustainability and future-proofing urban areas. How can we ensure the adaptability of the buildings we design? And how they can be repurposed to meet changing needs over time?

Join LCEC with Noel Cash of Henley Halebrown for a talk on the importance of hybrid use of inner-city sites. He will look at the new award-winning 333 Kingsland Road, Hackney. Discussing how the development is a prime example of a successful hybrid site.

The combination of a residential building and a new primary school has been the recipient of several awards. It has received the RIBA London Award 2022, RIBA National Award 2022, Neave Brown Award for Housing 2022 and the project was also shortlisted for the Stirling Prize 2022.

What is the point of hybrid use? Why is important to prioritise flexibility and adaptability?
