Lessons from developing the BIM 4 HA's toolkit

In July this year BIM for Housing Associations published a Toolkit to enable housing associations to implement BIM.

The project is client led and client run and involved over 68 participants including staff from 20 different housing associations across the country.

In two short months the Toolkit was downloaded over 400 times and a community of 180 have joined BIM4HAs Forum to discuss how to use it.

BIM4HAs Chair Jack Ostrofsky and Vice Chairs Gary Bellenger and Varun Soni will share why and how the project was initiated, what they have learned from taking a ‘client first’ approach and what BIM4HAs will be doing next.

Jack Ostrofsky
Head of Quality and Design, Southern Housing Group
Chair, BIM for Housing Associations

Jack has a broad range of experience across the entire property lifecycle. He has been at the forefront of strategic enterprise-wide responses to the Hackitt Review for several large housing associations. As founder and chair of the BIM for Housing Associations Project, Jack is leading a collaborative effort bringing together leading housing associations and consultants to discuss and develop best practice for digitising asset information and to put forward the business case for BIM.

Gary Bellenger
Assistant Director of Property Services
A2Dominion

Gary has gained extensive experience across a wide scope of asset management disciplines as well as in property development. Using this range of experience, Gary is leading on digital transformation across the full asset management lifecycle at A2Dominion and keen to establish the use of BIM for existing buildings within housing association portfolios.

Varun Soni
Associate Head of BIM, Calfordseaden LLP
Vice Chair, BIM for Housing Associations

Varun is a BIM manager at Calfordseaden with over 8 years’ experience in the construction industry. Throughout Varun’s academic and professional career, he has built a solid grounding in architecture, design, construction, and the implementation and use of BIM for design and construction projects.

As a chair for the BIM4 Housing Associations Asset and Development Working Groups, and member of the UK BIM Alliance Executive Team, Varun is proactive in his approach to promoting BIM as an effective and efficient way of working in the industry.
